COMMON QUESTIONS
How does laser hair removal work?
Laser hair removal works by producing a beam of high-intensity light that penetrates deep into your skin tissue. This laser light delivers a controlled amount of focused heat, which is attracted to the pigment contained inside the hair follicle, thus destroying it while leaving the surrounding skin unaffected.
What areas of the face and body can be treated with laser hair removal?
Nearly any area of the face and body can be treated with laser hair removal. This includes, but is not limited to, legs, buttocks, bikini, arms, underarms, chest, back, neck, chin, and ears.
Does laser hair removal work for everyone?
At our office, we can treat all skin types only because we offer specific lasers for our light and dark skin patients. Patients with lighter skin and darker hair typically require fewer sessions. People with darker skin may require more sessions for effective results to be achieved. Lasers do not see blond, red, gray, or white hair, so they cannot be removed with any laser. The reason for this is there is no melanin in the hair follicle and hence, no target for the laser.
How many laser hair removal treatments will I need?
Because laser hair removal targets hair follicles during the growth cycle, typically 6 to 8 treatments are needed to catch all of the follicles at the right time.
